The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia using a saline-filled implant that can be placed either below the breast tissue or beneath the chest muscle. The incision used is either around the areola, in the crease where the breast meets the chest, or in the armpit. The placement of the implant and the incision used will be dependent on your anatomy and body habits. After surgery, you usually feel sore for a few days but are able to perform daily self-care in 24 hours. Discomfort can be controlled with medication. Sutures are removed in one week and most patients can return to work at that time. Exercises are avoided for three to four weeks. |
