| Eyelid surgery
(or blepharoplasty) is the preferred treatment for removing bags under the
eyes or for correcting drooping eyelids, conditions that can add years to your
appearance and even impair your vision. Eyelid surgery can also improve the
hollow appearance of the areas around the eyes, restoring the youthful look.
Eyelid surgery may be performed under local anesthesia with or without sedation, or under general anesthesia if preferred. Dr. Bui will make incisions along the natural lines of your eyelids, through which excess fat, skins and muscle are removed. The incisions are closed with fine sutures, which will leave scars that are practically invisible. Most patients are back to their normal routines within days, although complete recovery may take a few weeks. Swelling, bruising and some discomfort are part of the recovery process, and usually can be alleviated with cold compresses and appropriate medication. |
